Microsoft's Internet
Explorers security seems to be under the spot light recently as web based security
attacks seem to be increasing in notoriety.
Keeping software, especially browsers such as Internet Explorer up to date, we
believe is generally a good practice.
Web browsers are used so often as the main interface between users and the
internet, and security attacks target browsers for many reasons.
Such reasons include that users often enter passwords and other critical data
via a web browser. Also, browsers may be used for wider access to a user's
system.
Since Internet Explorer is still the most popular browser, according to
statistics, it is important that IE Security is kept up to date.
To help keep Internet Explorers security up to date, it is advisable to keep
abreast of Microsoft's updates either manually or allow for automatic updates.
Other popular browsers should also be kept up date. This includes the more
popular browsers such as Firefox and Chrome.
Also, the most important products to be kept up to date in terms of Internet
security are the browsers, EMail programs and instant messenger programs.
Any software that interacts with the internet should be a priority to be kept up
to date with security patches.
Internet Explorers options also allow to increase security whilst on the
internet, and more recently have included a bad site list in a further attempt to
help protect users.
These reasons alone are more than enough to keep Internet Explorer up to
date.
