There are reports
that a rootkit present on user's PC's may have affected recent security updates
from Microsoft.
The rootkit, may have prevented Security updates from completing correctly,
leading to system corruption, including 'blue screens'.
Rootkits are especially nasty types of malware when
they infect a PC. They can have a destructive payload and are notoriously
hard to remove.
Security software, including Microsoft Security software, can help with the
detection and removal of rootkits.
Users should still keep up with Microsoft Security updates on their
PCs. Users should also check to see if they may be potentially infected with
rootkits or other malware.
