If you SPAM or use Phishing techniques relating to Facebook, then be prepared
for some serious consequences.
Facebook has reportedly filed another lawsuit against alleged Spammers who
allegedly used Phishing techniques to gain access to user accounts to send
SPAM.
Facebook has been successful in the past with Spammers and it's a timely
reminder of the perils of spamming in general.
Whilst Facebook and the authorities try to combat Phishing, SPAM and cyber crime
generally, users too can play their part.
Some tactics users can consider with SPAM and Phishing attempts.
- Users should not respond to SPAM or Phishing messages and should
remove/delete such message straight away.
- Phishing and SPAM can be reported. The method of reporting can
depend on the source. For example SPAM on Facebook should be
reported to Facebook.
